Fast Approaching!

Hello fellow TeenPacters! National Convention is fast approaching and with it... elections! I am so excited for NC this year. One part that I am most looking forward to is getting to see you again, my good friends. And meeting those of you whom I do not know yet!

If you have found your way to this blog I assume it is for one of two reasons. Either you know me personally and thought, "Oh cool, Brianna is running for Senate, I think I'll check out her blog!" or more likely you have no idea who I am and clicked on this link to try and figure out who in the world this girl is!

So I will try to describe myself and my reasons for running for Senate to you.

I am a Christian. I love the Lord with all my heart and I also love His people (you guys :D). I love to get to know people and find ways to serve them, or help them in their walk with the Lord. This is the main reason I am running for Senate. I have a vision for us as TeenPacters all across the country to develop close friendships and encourage/spur each other on in our walk with the Lord (Heb. 10:24).

Which brings me to why I am running with the Vision Party. The Bible says "Without vision the people perish" (Prov. 29:18) We as Christians need to "Quit Fiddling Around" and be vigilant to not lose our vision. There are two areas in which I think obtaining a broader vision will help our nation, and indeed help us personally.

The first is in regards to our declining economy and loss of jobs. All three parties seek to answer this question: "With the unemployment rate at 8.5% American jobs are slowly disappearing. What is the solution to this crisis?"

The VISION PARTY provides the best solution, looking ahead to the future and choosing to educate the workforce. We live in the greatest country in the world, the United States of America. Our country didn't just get to this position of influence and power by chance. No, great men and women looked ahead to the future and made sure that our nation was on the cutting edge, thereby making other nations compete with us. We need to continue to be developing new technology and create new, innovative solutions to problems to insure that we remain a super-power and not become dependant on other countries. The poorer countries of the world are generally the ones whose citizens have little or no education. Their government is often tyrannical, suppressing the people, and they can do little or nothing about it because of their lack of education. We must guard against this happening in the United States!

The second aspect in which I think we need to quit fiddling around and catch a broader vision is in regards to the lost and dying world around us. Eph. 5:15-16 says, "So be careful how you live, not as fools, but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days." If we don't "make the most of every opportunity" and tell people about Jesus who will? Please come to my campaign table at NC for resources/helpful hints on being Jesus in the flesh to people. Also, read more about how important I feel this is in the post below entitled "Welcome to the Blog, and the Campaign"

All right, now you know a little bit more about who I am and what is important to me. I would love to be able to get to know you and find out how I can serve you. If you are attending National Convention please come by my campaign table or find me around so I can get to know you! If you have any questions or comments please leave them below, find me on facebook, or email me at: His_dancergirl@yahoo.com

I am asking for your vote - not so that I can achieve the high and mighty position of Senator :D No, so that I can better serve you and TeenPact and so that I can cast a vision people will want to follow.

Won't you partner with me?

Your candidate for Senator,
~Brianna Walden

Short Break...

I am taking a short break from this series (I know I just started it) to focus more on National Convention and my bid for the Senate. After NC look for this series on "Find Your Call" to continue!!!

Find Your Call

Hi everyone! I've decided to do a series of posts entitled "Find Your Call"

I think a great way - no, make that the best way - to stop fiddling around and make your life count is to stop and ask God what He has called you to do. I firmly believe that God has placed a unique calling on every one of our lives (Eph. 2:10) and we can be the most effective if we walk according to His plan for our destiny.

Let's start with what He has called all of us to do. How about the great commission, that's a good place to start. "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit..." We are to spread the gospel. If we don't tell people about Jesus, who will?

Okay, that is pretty clear, I think we all understand our calling to bring the good news of Jesus wherever we go. But to what else does God call us? How does He define our role as Christians? Check out James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." God has a HUGE place in His heart for the fatherless, the poor, needy, helpless. He tells us to be a voice for those who have none. Proverbs 31:8-9 says "You should defend those who cannot help themselves. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." Micah 6:8 says: "He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with the Lord your God." Social justice is very important to the Lord, and anything that is important to God should be important to us.

So what has God called you to do? What passion has He placed in your heart? What makes you really mad? Is it abortion? Human trafficing (modern-day slavery), child abuse, world hunger or poverty? I encourage you to take some time away from distractions and ask God what specific call He has placed on your life.

Over the next few post I am going to look at some of these issues in depth. I want to give you some of the facts about what is going on, and dig into the scriptures to see what God thinks about it. What you do with this information will be entirely up to you. I hope it will spur you on to further research and you will listen to God's gentle voice, and run to obey His call. That is all He asks of each of us.

God bless you all!
~Brianna

Welcome To the Blog, And the Campaign

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

Please read this "welcome message" if you haven't already. :)

My desire to become your Senator is about more then just running a great campaign or even winning an election. "Quit fiddling around" isn't just a catchy phrase to get you to vote for me. When I say "Catch the vision" I don't just mean the vision of my winning this election and becoming your Senator. All these things are great, and yes I want you to vote for me, and yes I want to win this election, but more importantly, what I want you to get from my campaign is a life principle. A principle originating, not from me, but from the pages of the Bible.

I think one a the greatest challenges facing Christians today is the challenge to not be apathetic. Apathy, mediocrity, and even an attitude that says, "I a good enough Christian" is everywhere in our society today. We truly are the lukewarm church Jesus describes in Revelation.
But let's not be despondent! Let's make a decision to change things! You are not responsible for changing your friends or your church, but you are responsible for changing yourself. What are you doing for the Lord? What do people see when they look at your life? Are you making an impact or are you fiddling around, wasting your time?

Philippians 3:12-15a says, "Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind"

Paul had done so much for the Lord! Thousands of people had come to know Christ through his testimony. He had gone through imprisonment, beating, and even stoning - all because of his devotion to the cause of Christ. Here is a man we can look to and say, "Surely he was not fiddling around!" And yet he was not satisfied! He could have easily said, "I've filled my quota, done enough for the Lord" but he didn't. He was always pressing on, looking for more ways to serve Christ and share His love with others.

Following his example we must not say, "I've gone to church, I've read my Bible, I'm living the Christian life, I'm good." No, we must press on! Redeem the time! Catch a vision for souls to be saved! So how do we do that? What does that look like? Well I think it could look like a hundred different things at different times. But it doesn't have to be scary, and it doesn't have to be hard. Sure it might be at first, but God will give us strength and courage.

Here's a few ideas to get you started:

1. I'm sure everyone has gotten a few different tracts given to you in your life. Find one you like and buy a bunch. Then always keep a few with you to give to people or leave in strategic places.

2. Look for people who need Jesus' hope and love. This requires you to be in prayer, and in tune to the voice of the Lord. Sometimes God will bring someone to you and they will start sharing their life's story, or a struggle they are going through. Instead of just listening and then walking away thinking, boy, that was strange, offer to pray for them! Share briefly about to whom you are praying and then pray a short prayer of blessing over their lives. Most people love it and are touched, and you never know the fruit that comes of a simple prayer.

3. Find practical ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Pick up trash, hold open a door, put away a cart for an elderly lady, let someone else go in front of you at the grocery line, pay for the person behind you at a drive through window, etc. The possibilities truly are endless. These little tasks do not take much time or effort, but make a big impact. Afterward, a simple smile and a "God bless" will leave them confused and curious.

Most important of all, pray and ask God to bring opportunities your way to be Jesus to people and redeem the time. Living like this requires effort. It requires self-sacrifice. But there is nothing more rewarding than knowing you are living in God's will for your life and making an impact on others.

Ephesians 5:8,15-17 "For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! ...So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do." (NLT - emphasis added)

It is my prayer that we will all make a conscious decision each day to "Quit fiddling around" and to instead "Make the most of every opportunity."
Love and prayers, your fellow Christian, and candidate for Senator,
Brianna Walden
